In a recent development, some of the protesters arrested for demonstrating against illegal mining (Galamsey) in Ghana have been granted bail. This update comes after the arrest of about 53 citizens who were protesting against the destructive environmental impacts of Galamsey, which has polluted nearly 60% of Ghana’s water bodies. The protests, organized by the Democracy Hub, aimed to pressure the government to enforce measures to stop Galamsey.
